Solution Activity 13th

As usual here you are the solutions:

First the A.N.

1 The Black Queen moves from c3 to e5 to check the white King:

Qe5+ (it is not Check Mate because the king can escape)

2 There are two exercises:

·        the black Rook on a8 captures the white pawn on a2:

·        RXa2 (pawn has not any initial)

·        The white pawn promotes to…

·        h8=Q… or N, or B, or R (usually the Queen)

Then the Chess Game challenge:

Sorry I have realized it was a little bit complicated, sorry I take note for next challenges.

•  Firstly, we have to think about the aim:

To give Check Mate in 2 moves with the black pieces.

• Then we re-read the instructions and the hints: To sacrifice the Black Queen in order to force the King to lose space to escape.

• So instead of placing the Queen to g2 protected by the Rook, one square before, to avoid the defence from the white Queen.

• Then the Black King cannot capture our Queen because our Rook so they have to capture our Queen with their pawn on f2 xQg3.

• While they are waiting for us to attack with the Rook, you can observe that our Knight on h4 covers the white King escape to g2 so we capture the pawn on g3 Xg3++ and there you are CHECK MATE.
