as I told you in the hints the black King has a pawn "protecting" him but... as you have already seen this protection is to such a kind of protection but a great obstacle.
So the white Rook can move forward a couple of squares a-8++
and there you are a Checkmate.
Challenge#2
The idea is to practise with our Bishops so I only add them in this exercise.
The white Bishop on h2 and the white King on e-7 cover almost all the scapes for the black King.
...so what we need is to attack the only escape for it...
...and there you are Ba-6++ Checkmate.
