The pawn II

Hey humans over there

here we are again with the pawn

some of our dear participants wrote me because we didn't talk enough about the pawns

Sorry to all of them but... there is a lot of stuff with these little and valuable pieces.

Let's see some things we can do with them

Follow the video and this script

pay attention to the:

1. Control the center

It’s a good reason to use our pawns, the player who controls the center of the chessboard has more opportunities to win the match

Exercise #1 find out which is the best option for the pawn on

if you have seen the video it's easy peasy

can you tell me? What’s the best move for the pawn on d-4?

2. Fork pieces.

Another important function of the pawns is for exchanging pieces, they are valued 1 point so... why don't we make that trade it's very good for us.

For instance in this exercise #2 you can exchange one pawn for a knight or a bishop, tell me how

 3. Get a Queen!

Of course these pieces have a special superpower, they can PROMOTE to any of the chessmen (but the King there's only one or a pawn itself, they cannot go backwards)

but the most common is to become into a Queen, so if you PROMOTE all your pawns you can get 8 more Queens

Ummm too many of them...

Exercise #3 Can you find which is the next move for the white pieces?

Yes it was easy but we can practice the AN (Algebraic Notation)

4. Shield your King.

they can cover your King position, they are very good shield especially after the castling. If you don't know how to do this special move watch this video

Do the castling with white pieces and then with black ones.

And there are some more hints about pawns but we'll be back with more activities next time. (specially "En passant" (and when it is appropriate).

See you soon and don't forget to send me all your solutions, all your comments and all your support

presta atención a

4. Protege a tu Rey.
